German pianist Martin Stadtfeld presents his new album, “Chopin: Return to Warsaw,” offering a unique perspective on Chopin’s creative world. The album’s centerpiece is “Allegro de concert,” Op. 46, long considered a major fragment of Chopin’s unfinished piano concerto. Reorchestrated by conductor and arranger Timo Jouko Herrmann, it is presented as an orchestral concerto, delicately bringing Chopin’s musical language and Romantic spirit to life.

Complementing this is a new orchestral version of Chopin’s rarely performed “Polonaise in A major,” Op. 19, showcasing the work’s distinctive charm through rich, nuanced colors. Together, the two works form a “reconstructed A major piano concerto,” performed by Martin Stadtfeld and the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, inviting listeners to experience the drama and poetry of Chopin’s music from a fresh perspective.

In addition to the large-scale works, the album includes several beloved classics, including nocturnes, waltzes, and “Lullaby,” as well as Chopin works personally arranged by Martin Stadtfeld. Through performance, arrangement, and reconstruction, “Chopin: Return to Warsaw” not only pays tribute to the composer but also embarks on a new journey exploring the imagination and possibilities of Chopin’s music.
