Pink Floyd’s 10th album, "Animals," was deeply inspired by British author George Orwell’s dystopian political allegory, "Animal Farm." In the songs, Roger Waters uses different animal characteristics to represent various classes of human society, utilizing the themes of rule and resistance within the animal society to criticize the social issues and political situation in Britain at the time. Beyond its political implications, the album also serves as a retort to the punk rock movement of the era. With the exception of "Dogs," which was co-written by Roger Waters and David Gilmour, all other tracks were written solely by Roger Waters. Presented in two parts, "Pigs on the Wing" is a folk-inflected rock track where Roger expresses deep affection for his then-partner; in contrast to the darker themes of the rest of the album, this song offers a glimmer of hope alongside its expression of personal love.
