◎For the <1973-1984 Album Collection> series, each album has been remastered using the "Plangent Process playback system"—the state-of-the-art method for converting analog masters to digital. The remastering was overseen by 7-time Grammy winner Bob Ludwig, a recording legend who has worked on over 3,000 albums for artists including Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Nirvana, and Daft Punk, and who has also served as Bruce Springsteen's mastering engineer for 30 years, in collaboration with longtime Springsteen engineer Toby Scott. By combining advanced modern analog electronics with unique digital signal processing, the pair used this system to realign existing audio waveforms, restoring them to their original state before mechanical changes in the recording tape could occur. Bob Ludwig stated: "The Plangent Process brings a new spaciousness to the recordings. It connects with me emotionally in a way I've never experienced before."

After hearing the test results of the 1978 album "Darkness On The Edge Of The Town" remastered with the "Plangent Process playback system," Bruce Springsteen accelerated plans to remaster the first seven albums of his career using the same technology. Although "Born To Run" and "Darkness On The Edge Of The Town" were previously remastered in 2005 and 2010 respectively, this collection incorporates the "Plangent Process playback system"—a technology that had not yet been invented at the time—to deliver a higher level of fidelity and authenticity, perfectly capturing the rock and roll drive of "The Boss."
