Let me fall apart so you can move on

Chart-topping love-song king
Andrew Tan
9th solo album
《I Fall, You’re Free》
From the ultimate release of heart-wrenching love songs
to the boundless freedom of learning to let go

Ten songs. Ten things men can never bring themselves to say.
An emotional atlas of the modern urban man

Singing the most honest thoughts that every man hurt by love
would rather deny, yet knows to be true

Sometimes, true love isn’t about holding on
but saying: I fall, you’re free

From “Queen of the Night,” “A Sure Thing,” and “It’s Okay to Hurt Again” to “A Song That Gets to the Heart,” Andrew Tan has spent 20 years since his debut accompanying countless people who have stumbled, fallen apart, healed, and found new life in love with one heartfelt love song after another. His songs have amassed hundreds of millions of streams, and have long held their place atop karaoke charts and digital music platforms, making him one of the most iconic voices in Mandopop love songs. Whether it’s the late-night track on repeat after a breakup or the karaoke anthem sung at full volume, Andrew Tan’s songs are always there to catch every wounded heart when it needs them most.
Andrew Tan’s love-song identity is as distinctive as his name: “Andrew” evokes the force of emotions that surge in without warning, the devastating love songs that strike a nerve; “Tan” speaks to the understanding and embrace that follow an emotional breakdown, and the hint of tenderness that remains in our most vulnerable moments. He can make the deepest heartache sound utterly shattering, yet leave an escape hatch open at the brink of collapse. This singular quality, poised between pain and healing, has made Andrew Tan’s love songs unmistakable and established him as one of Mandopop’s defining voices for the male heart.
With his ninth solo album, 《I Fall, You’re Free》, Andrew Tan takes these emotions to a more mature and expansive place. If his earlier love songs were about not wanting to part, not being able to let go, and loving someone you can’t have, then 《I Fall, You’re Free》 is about learning to set someone free and let go when a relationship reaches its end. This album is an emotional atlas of the modern urban man: those who are used to hiding their vulnerability, those who swallow their regrets, and those who can’t let go but pretend they’re fine will all find themselves in these ten songs. Some are trapped in memories, going around in circles; some hold on to a relationship that has long since lost its answers. Some keep going with a wound that tears them apart; some learn to accept a future without the other person. Some are willing to be lifelong disciples of love, while others finally find themselves again amid boundless horizons.
Ten songs, like ten things men can never bring themselves to say. The emotions of putting on a brave face, self-blame, longing, obsession, resentment, and letting go are all voiced through Andrew Tan’s most honest singing. When all those unspoken words finally find a melody, every man who has ever been hurt can find a reason to feel understood. Through the ultimate release of emotion, the rawest struggles of a broken heart, and his signature powerhouse vocals, Andrew once again showcases his distinctive Mandopop karaoke aesthetic.
More expansive after love

The visual concept for this album centers on “boundlessness,” symbolizing the journey from heartbreak to rebirth, from falling to freedom. Flowing fabrics, poses reaching toward the sky, and a sense of space that continually opens up replace the feeling of being trapped in the past. Instead of fixating on what has been lost, we see what we still have. The digital cover uses golden light as its central visual element, capturing the moment between emotional collapse and rebirth. The physical album cover, by contrast, features an entirely different palette of sky colors; once the heat and turbulence have faded, what remains is a calmer, purer self. The physical album takes “falling” as its design concept. With its vertical page-turning format, accordion-fold pages, and disassemblable structure, opening the album becomes a process of slowly peeling away the pain. As all the pages unfold downward and lie completely flat, the people and things we once couldn’t let go of may finally become possible to release. Because some relationships teach us how to love. And some teach us how to be free.

The cruelest ending to a love story, one song after another of the most mature kind of letting go
