Kind of Blue (Clear Vinyl)

Miles Davis (Trumpet)

    A classic masterpiece of East Coast Cool Jazz and modal jazz.
    The essential introductory recommendation for the greatest trumpet legend in history, Miles Davis; a must-have for every jazz collector.

Known as the "Prince of Darkness," trumpet titan Miles Davis (1926-91) was a pioneer who established the cool, detached style of the 50s Cool School and later launched the new Jazz-Rock fusion sound of the late 60s. Mentored by Charlie Parker, the most iconic saxophone master of the Bop era, Miles Davis’s journey from performing in New York's 52nd Street clubs to leading big bands and eventually his own quintets not only showcased his profound personal style but also transcended racial barriers to nurture emerging talents.

"Kind of Blue" is a classic representative of the Cool Jazz and modal jazz era. Miles Davis and composer/pianist Bill Evans cultivated the main progressions, centering the album on a unifying concept that expands into layered, boundless spaces through the contributions of other musicians. The artists featured on this album went on to become key figures in the jazz world, and "Kind of Blue" stands as a peak achievement for the Miles Davis quintet, with every musician delivering a performance of the highest caliber.
