The Brutalist Architect

    Winner of the 97th Academy Awards for Best Original Score.
    Winner of the BAFTA for Best Original Music.
    An highly experimental and emotionally complex work, it not only drives the film's narrative through music, but also echoes the themes of architecture and the fate of post-war immigrants through timbre and structure, successfully becoming part of the film's inner emotional landscape.
    The media describes the score as "powerful" and "infectious architectural soundscapes within an experimental framework."

Daniel Blumberg is a multidisciplinary creator who blends music, composition, and visual art, active in experimental, indie rock, electronic music, and film scoring. His first feature film score was for The World to Come (2020), directed by Mona Fastvold, which won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Original Film or Television Music in 2022.

The Rough Guide to Architecture is his breakout work, with the media describing the score as "powerful" and "infectious architectural soundscapes within an experimental framework." He is known for his creative recording techniques, having recorded in London cafes, Budapest, New York, Berlin, Paris, and even marble quarries in Italy. The score blends improvisation, prepared piano (using screws and clips to create sounds reminiscent of "building materials"), jazz, and unique synthesizer filters to shape the film's distinctive soundscape. It is
a highly experimental and emotionally complex work that not only drives the film's narrative through music, but also echoes the themes of architecture and the fate of post-war immigrants through timbre and structure, successfully becoming part of the film's inner emotional landscape.
